FIU Tabadul: Creating Language-Learning Community Through Virtual Reality (2021-2023)
On August 16, 2022, The Virtual Tabadul Project was featured on the local Radio Station in the City of Oum El Bouaghi. The 1-hour program involved a discussion about the project goals, objectives, and accomplishments so far implemented at the University of Oum El Bouaghi (UOEB). The roundtable participants included: Dr. Lakhdar Boukerrou, Dr. Kheireddine Lamamra (Vice President for International Cooperation at UOEB), Dr. Abdelhek Nemouchi (Professor in Linguistic), and two project participating students Merwa Arroudj and Wail Boutahra who are involved in the program. Review of the book L’Université Algérienne: Evolution, Priorités et Stratégies: Pour une université algérienne performante et innovante
Dr. Boukerrou and his co-author’s book on the evolution, priorities, and strategies of the Algerian university system received a rave review by “El Watan”, the number one daily newspaper in Algeria. The book, a collaboration between faculty members from three countries (US, Algeria, and France), describes the evolution of the Algerian university system since the country’s independence, discusses priorities, and proposes recommendations to address the challenges that the Algerian universities face. Ambassador Barlerin’s Remarks at Cameroon Environmental Challenges Symposium
At the “Environmental Challenges: Water, Forestry, and Rangeland Nexus” symposium organized by Dr. Boukerrou in collaboration with USGS, US Forestry Service, the Government of Cameroon, Ambassador Barlerin’s points out the role that FIU is playing in such events. Two AfWA staff members are trained on USAID procurement procedures

Ouagadougou hosts the 5th meeting of the USAID WASH Coordination Secretariat
The USAID WASH Coordinating Secretariat is a meeting organized by USAID WA-WASH every three months in a different country in West Africa. The meeting brings together the major WASH stakeholders and the USAID/West Africa funded WASH project in the region. For more information, click here

This is a radio podcast by Radio France International (RFI) discussing the USAID West Africa Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (USAID WA-WASH) Program goals, objectives, and achievements for the target populations in Burkina Faso, Ghana, and Niger. Expert urges effective management of water resources
At the WASH Governance Workshop held in Kumasi, Ghana for Members of Parliament, Dr. Boukerrou called on West African countries to adopt aggressive water management policies to ensure the sustainability of water resources in the face of dwindling water resources in a number of countries of the region.
